At Astrapia, we help you plan a complete window solution for your home. This checklist explains the details that shape your personalised quotation.
Before comparing the final totals, check whether your window quotations describe the same job. A shorter quote can look attractive simply because some of the work has not been priced. Use a single opening schedule and send it to each supplier.
1–4: Define the window itself
- Opening reference: give every window an ID and room name. Include approximate width and height, quantity and floor.
- Opening arrangement: show fixed panes, moving sashes and the direction of operation.
- Profile system: request frame and sash codes. A brand name by itself does not identify the selected system.
- Glass: record type, thickness, build-up and any safety, privacy, acoustic or solar-control requirement.
5–8: Describe the components you will use
- Reinforcement: ask what is required for the actual dimensions and exposure.
- Hardware: identify hinges or rollers, handles and locking arrangement, including the support for the proposed sash weight.
- Mesh and grills: specify what is included and how it interacts with the sash.
- Finish: approve a physical colour sample and clarify whether both sides receive the same finish.
9–12: Close the installation and commercial gaps
- Installation scope: list fixing, perimeter sealing, old-frame removal, debris clearance and wall repairs.
- Site access: state delivery access, floor, lift availability and any scaffolding arrangements.
- Final price: clarify taxes, freight, exclusions, measurement rules and payment stages.
- Service: request the written warranty terms, service contact and handover documents.
A comparison example
Suppose two quotes cover the same 5 ft × 4 ft opening. One includes two sliding glass sashes and a mesh sash; the other has two glass sashes only. The first may have a higher rate but cover more of your requirement. Compare the adjusted scope before deciding which is better value.
The same principle applies to glass: clear single glazing, a specified laminated pane and an insulating glass unit are different assemblies. Avoid a quote that uses only “premium glass” without defining it.
What to send before your survey
Share opening IDs, photographs, approximate dimensions and the project PIN code. Note special constraints such as a sink below the window, a narrow passage, strong sun or a road-facing bedroom. Confirm which dimensions are provisional and arrange final measurement before manufacture.
