Choose a window assembly, not just a frame material. A well-specified uPVC window and a well-specified aluminium window can serve different priorities. Your opening sizes, design, exposure, budget and maintenance expectations should guide the choice.
Start with the opening and the room
Give both suppliers the same opening schedule and ask for a drawing showing fixed panes, opening sashes, mullions and mesh. A quotation for a mostly fixed window cannot be compared fairly with one that has several moving sashes. Ask each supplier to confirm the size and weight limits of the proposed system.
Compare the performance of the whole window
uPVC frames provide insulation through the frame material and profile design. Aluminium systems may incorporate thermal breaks. Glazing, seals and installation also affect the completed window. Its climate recommendations are not an Indian project specification.
For a west-facing room, discuss shade and solar control as well as insulation. For a noisy bedroom, ask about the tested assembly and installation sealing. A material label alone does not establish either room comfort or acoustic performance.

Think beyond the frame surface
Low-maintenance frames still need clean tracks, clear drainage paths, intact gaskets and functioning hardware. Ask for written care instructions for the actual finish and fittings. Coastal exposure, dust, renovation debris and household cleaners can affect components differently.
A slender frame may suit one facade; a warmer-looking section may suit another. Judge sightlines using the proposed drawing and a sample, rather than comparing unrelated catalogue photographs.
Make your final comparison on a common scope
List the same glass, opening pattern, hardware, colour, mesh, installation and warranty items in each quotation. Then decide which combination serves the room and the project budget. Avoid a universal claim that one material wins every building.
